Comprehensive treatment at the center will consist of collaboration between clinicians, health professionals, case managers, and community partners to address the biological, psychological, and social needs of our clients. Depending on the needs of the clients, they may be connected to a clinician for psychotherapy, psychiatrist for consultation and if deemed clinically appropriate medication management, case manager to address social needs (i.e. housing, food insecurity, family law concerns, etc.), community partners to address those needs, nurses to navigate chronic health conditions and/or yoga therapists to learn additional ways to cope. This model helps to create meaningful and lasting change, improve overall well-being and quality of life.

Under the Department of Community Health, the Mental Health Center at Hoag Hospital has been providing outpatient mental health services since 1998.
The goal of the Mental Health Center is to improve the health and well-being of the surrounding underserved community, through the provision of psychotherapy and integrated care. These services are intended to increase an individual’s level of happiness, level of satisfaction and functioning in life. About Us
At the Mental Health Center, we strive to meet the needs of our clients. Our bilingual and bicultural staff can provide culturally competent services in English, Spanish or Farsi.
Our services begin with an initial evaluation/consultation process which includes a one-hour face-to-face appointment with a mental health professional. During this time the client’s mental health needs will be clarified. Screening is done to consider the appropriateness of our services. If other services are needed, the client will be provided with the corresponding referrals and linkages. If it is determined that the Mental Health Center at Hoag is the appropriate agency to assist with the issue(s), the client will then be assigned to a therapist. The assessment process will then continue with the therapist and the client mutually deciding upon a corresponding treatment plan. Treatment plans will consist of evidence-based interventions and best practice approaches to resolve the identified issue(s). The therapist will provide services in an emotionally safe and confidential environment, in either individual, family, couple or group format.
