Ammar Altowaiji, LMFT
Ammar Altowaiji is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the ASPIRE and Young Adult Mental Health Program at Hoag since 2018. He earned his Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton where he did research in twin studies receiving one publication and two book acknowledgements. Ammar went on to receive his Masters of the Arts Degree with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. He has 3 years of experience working in foster care, between level 10 and 14 facilities, with cases ranging from child abuse, violent behaviors, substance use, and self-harm. Ammar has a background working in Residential chemical dependency and Intensive Outpatient. His specialties include working with Mood Disorders, Substance Abuse, Grief and Loss, Adolescents, Trauma, and Men’s Issues. As a clinician, he has an interest in bringing awareness to the community to decrease stigma and encourage advocating for mental health needs to be met. He hopes that adolescents and young adults struggling with mental illness will be able to use available resources to enhance their experience in life.
