Connect at Hoag for Breast Cancer Awareness Event

Whoever said you can’t get anything worthwhile for free didn’t know about the upcoming Hoag event, “Demystifying the Breast Cancer Experience” at Hoag Hospital, which also happens to fall on the first week of October, otherwise known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized to raise awareness about the disease while also connecting breast cancer warriors across the world with those who stand with them in their fight.

In a poignant program that costs absolutely nothing to attend, Dr. Heather Macdonald, breast surgical oncologist and medical director of the Hoag Breast and Ovarian Cancer Prevention Program, will be joined in discussion by Dr. Sadia Khan, breast surgical oncologist and program advisor for surgical services at Hoag Breast Centers, to address frequently asked questions about breast cancer screening, diagnosis and surgery. The session will be moderated by Michelle Booth, a clinical nurse navigator at Hoag and will also feature several breast cancer patients, who will candidly share their tales of survival, strength and hope.

This is, as the event description explains, “an amazing opportunity for anyone newly diagnosed or looking to connect with other breast cancer survivors.”
