Happy New Year. As 2022 begins with a sense of familiar uncertainty, my wish for your happiness, health and safety is sincere and deeply felt.
For the last two years, I have shared with you the triumphs and challenges of Hoag’s incredible medical team, the support of our philanthropic community and the resilience and perseverance of you, our patients and families, in the face of COVID-19.
As 2020 gave way to 2021, we continued to grow together: Hoag, by innovating and bringing top talent and cutting-edge treatments to the community; and the community, by keeping one another safe.
In these earliest days of 2022, the virus continues to change, and we all are changing along with it. All eligible individuals are strongly encouraged to receive a booster shot to counteract waning immunity from the vaccine and further protect yourself from severe illness. Additionally, please continue to wear a face mask that consists of multiple layers and is well fitted when you’re around others. The last two years have been difficult, but they have also been inspiring. The grit that our medical teams have displayed, the creative thinking and ability to innovate in the face of once-in-a-century challenges continue to astound me. I feel honored to work with these incredible medical minds every day, and I feel humbled that Hoag continues to play such a significant role in the most important moments of your lives.
