The City of Irvine is arguably the most dynamic community in Orange County. With top-tier schools and high-tech companies, Irvine reverberates with an energy that reaches every corner of the city.
It is this vibrancy that has made the last five years so exciting for health care in this community, beginning with Hoag Hospital Irvine. The hospital was a means to improve access to quality services for Irvine residents, and enhance the vitality of the community.
In spring 2016, Hoag Health Center Irvine – Sand Canyon will open to provide a wide array of specialized high-quality health care services that complement the existing services at Hoag Hospital Irvine.
The hospital, along with a new 150,000 state-of-the-art health care center will create a medical village where Irvine residents can access world-class Hoag services and physicians specializing in cancer care, neurosciences, women’s and heart and vascular services that befit our discerning and health-conscious city.
Furthermore, we will be opening a much-needed Hoag Urgent Care, just across from the hospital, to off er care after hours and on weekends, for non-life threatening conditions.
Most importantly, the Hoag Health Center Irvine – Sand Canyon is designed to accommodate advances in health care procedures and technology, so that it can continue to offer the very best of health care now and into the future.
In addition to the launch of specialized services at the Health Center, we are embarking on an Emergency Department (ED) expansion that will provide the community with a facility to match our outstanding clinical care.
The ED expansion planning began due to the growing needs of the community and exponential growth in the number of patients treated over the past 5 years since our opening. The community demanded not only more beds but also a new way of approaching emergency care. As a result the ED will expand using evidence-based procedures and improved technology to expedite care without compromising quality.
Working together, Hoag and Irvine are building a patient-centric model of health care for the city that will likely inform the way the rest of the county – and possibly the country – approaches health care.
