Hoag Leads OC Hospitals in U.S. News & World Report's 'Best Hospital' Rankings

In a rigorous assessment of more than 4,500 adult hospitals, U.S. News & World Report recognized Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Orange County as “high performing” in several clinical categories.

The annual Best Hospitals rankings are designed to help patients make informed decisions about where to receive care for life-threatening conditions or for common elective procedures. The U.S. News methodologies include risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, quality of nursing care and other care-related indicators.

Hoag was the highest ranked hospital in Orange County, the third-best hospital in the Los Angeles metro area and eighth-best in California overall in the new annual national rankings. Hoag was the only Orange County hospital ranked in the top 10 for California and received national rankings in the specialties Geriatrics, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Orthopedics, and Pulmonology.

UC Irvine Medical Center was ranked the No. 6 hospital in the LA metro area, with a top hospital ranking in Geriatrics.

Orange Coast Memorial earned a large number of “high-performance” rankings in the U.S. News & World Report. These include Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and Colon Cancer Surgery.

Saddleback Memorial Medical Center also received recognition for “high-performance” in Heart Failure and Colon Cancer.

CHOC Children’s was named one of the nation’s best children’s hospitals, ranking in seven specialties: Cancer, Diabetes/Endocrinology, Neonatology, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, and Urology, earning it a top 20 spot on the coveted list.

UC Irvine Medical Center was ranked the No. 6 hospital in the LA metro area, with a top hospital ranking in Geriatrics.
