Hoag was named one of the Best Hospitals in Orange County in the “2016 Best of Orange County” list from the Orange County Register. This is the twenty-first year Hoag has been named.
Originally envisioned in Newport Beach in 1944 by the Rev. Raymond Brahams and congregants of the Presbyterian church and one physician, the Presbyterian Hospital of Laguna Beach, which eight years later would open as Hoag Hospital, has grown with the area in size and stature.
“Community support has been vital to our success in providing world-class care,” said Robert T. Braithwaite, president and CEO of Hoag, in a statement. Hoag has been named one of the Best Regional Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report, which cited high performance in gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics and gynecology. It was also one of America's 50 best hospitals by Healthgrades for 2016 and one of the 100 great hospitals in America by Becker's Hospital Review four times in five years.
