Nearly 2,000 photos from more than 500 different Orange County photographers of all skill levels, from professionals to novice shutterbugs, participated in the Hoag Hospital Irvine photo contest.
Participants snapped pictures of scenery from the nearby Mountains to Sea Trail, a 22-mile trail within a 93,000-acre area traversing Irvine Ranch from Weir Canyon to Upper Newport Bay. The Orange County landmark inspired the design elements of Hoag Hospital Irvine, including the color palette of sage and taupe.
“Our approach with Hoag Hospital Irvine has been rooted in a desire to have the community take ownership of this hospital,” says Robert Braithwaite, chief administrative officer at Hoag Hospital Irvine. “The photo contest was a great way to continue to build a sense of community ownership in Hoag Hospital Irvine.”
A distinguished panel of judges selected 100 winning images from four categories, including professional, amateur adult, amateurs under 18 years old, and Hoag employees.
The selected images are used throughout Hoag Hospital Irvine with many featured pieces displayed in public areas with photo credits.
“We were overwhelmed with the response from the community to the photo contest,” continues Braithwaite. “The volume and quality of the submissions were truly impressive, which made our judging panel’s job very difficult.”
