Accomplishments

Earlier this year the new SB525 CA Healthcare Minimum Wage law went into effect which increased the minimum wage for health care workers. The Compensation team successfully implemented this change which impacted 2,500+ employees. In addition, the new real time total rewards systems helps articulate the robust compensation and benefits employees receive holistically at Hoag.

The Talent Acquisition Team built out four new training/ specialty programs in 2024, including radiation therapy; mammography; perioperative services – surgical techs; and NICU RN new graduate. These programs support Hoag’s talent pipeline strategies, increasing Hoag’s ability to attract early career talent and positioning us as a completive employer in our local job market.

The Hoag Experience strategy evolved to support the organization in a year of heightened focus on patient experiences scores further aligning patient experience improvement efforts to support VI service areas in achieving their targets. This resulted in SWOT teams being deployed across the organization to ensure meaningful and efficient feedback loops were established so Hoag as an organization meets its goal from a quality perspective and as the new Qualtrics platform is adopted.

Continued refinement of the Physician Recruitment strategy was achieved through improvements made to the physician interview experience; the development of a new provider onboarding system; revisions to the physician orientation and leadership programs; and the roll out of a new physician retirement plan option to ensure the program delivers and top shelf experience throughout the candidate journey.

The HRIS team further developed the workforce analytics dashboards to allow the organization to better assess and track key performance metrics tied to the Value Index, a big highlight from this year was further insights pushed to SEMT via a monthly separations scorecard to drive ongoing monitoring and insights to the month over month trends across the organization. This will continue to be an ongoing evolution as Hoag approaches workforce analytics with a more strategic lens in the years ahead, with current progress serving as foundationally imperative.
