Hoag Recruits IBD “Dream Team.”

Hoag recently recruited Margolis Family Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program Surgical Director Elizabeth Raskin, M.D., to join Medical Director Caroline Hwang, M.D., in the Digestive Health Institute’s Margolis Family IBD Program, securing the full-spectrum of world-class specialized care for Orange County and beyond.

Through their surgical and non-surgical expertise, Drs. Raskin and Hwang provide patients with advanced IBD and gastrointestinal care, including state-of-the-art technologies, surgical techniques and prevention innovations.

IBD affects an estimated 3 million Americans, putting them at increased risk of chronic health conditions. Because prevention is a key component of GI care, Dr. Hwang’s focus on the role of nutrition in IBD outcomes and responses to therapies makes her a natural leader for the program.

“At Hoag, we have a comprehensive team who bring their expertise to address debilitating GI needs and improve patients’ quality of life,” Dr. Hwang said.

Dr. Raskin’s expertise includes laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgical techniques to treat complex colon, rectal and anal conditions.

“Taking care of patients with complex conditions is our specialty, Raskin said. “From state-of-the-art medical management to cutting-edge surgical technology, we focus on comprehensive IBD care.”
