Hoag’s New Gynecologic Infusion Center Streamlines Care for Patients

Already the most trusted hospital in Orange County for the treatment of gynecologic cancers, Hoag recently opened an 18-chair dedicated gynecologic infusion center in Newport Beach to provide infusion care and physician appointments in one convenient location.

The infusion center is part of Hoag’s patient-centered approach to integrated care, which improves a patient’s experience and outcomes as she goes through her cancer journey.

“Integrated care is so important for our cancer patients,” said John (Jeb) Brown, M.D., co-director of Hoag’s Gynecologic Oncology and chair of the Robotics Committee. “Hoag’s team-based approach, along with our comprehensive care offerings and the opening this new infusion center, highlight how we center award-winning care around the patient.”

Hoag Gynecologic Oncology’s expert, fellowship-trained and board-certified gynecologic oncologists treat more patients in Orange County than any other health system and are part of a multidisciplinary team including gynecologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurse navigators, social workers, dietitians, genetic counselors, rehabilitation specialists and many others.

These experts work together in the prevention, early detection and treatment of gynecologic cancers using promising new therapies and complementary care. As a result, Hoag is consistently recognized for its outstanding care. Hoag ranks #37 in gynecology in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. And the hospital was designated by the American Association of Gynecologic Laproscopists (AAGL) and the Surgical Review Corporation as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG™) for its unparalleled commitment and ability to consistently deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care.

Hoag’s detection and treatment capabilities involve state-of-the-art minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgery – which is generously funded by philanthropy – precise radiation therapy, innovative clinical trials and research, precision medicine using genomic technologies and specialty programs for people at higher risk of developing gynecologic cancers. Additionally, Hoag has the highest volume robotic surgery program in Orange County.

“No one else provides as comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for gynecologic cancer — and access to clinical trials — all within the same program. And we offer it in our patients’ backyard,” said Dr. Brown. “In terms of continuity of care, what Hoag offers is truly unique.”

In addition to nationally ranked gynecologic cancer treatment, Hoag’s Pelvic Health Program is a leader in pre- and post-treatment rehabilitation. Pelvic floor physical therapy is administered by specialists who have doctorates in physical therapy and focus on pelvic floor dysfunction.

Compassion, expertise and a commitment to excellence has distinguished the Hoag Gynecologic Oncology Program for decades. The new gynecologic infusion center is the latest example of how Hoag delivers seamless, comprehensive care by top gynecologic clinicians to give Hoag patients a better experience and a better quality of life.
