With a commitment to providing world-class, comprehensive cancer care close to home, Hoag has completed a major renovation and expansion of the Patty & George Hoag Cancer Center in Newport Beach.
The new center, which opened in February, further increases Hoag’s offerings as the largest cancer center in Orange County and continues Hoag’s ability to provide unparalleled inpatient and outpatient care.
“From remarkably innovative technology, to reconfigured spaces that enhance the cancer patient experience and comfort, to expanding space for world-renowned cancer treatment specialists, the Hoag Family Cancer Institute is modeling the future of cancer care, right here in Orange County,” said Burton L. Eisenberg, M.D., F.A.C.S., the Grace E. Hoag Executive Medical Director Endowed Chair and executive medical
director of Hoag Family Cancer Institute.
Supported by generous philanthropic funds, the newly constructed space features a beautiful new infusion center with both private and social options. Offering expanded physician offices and spaces, the entire multidisciplinary team now has the ability to collaborate onsite to deliver the best care for patients. The center also features an expanded genetics service, new research facilities and a state-of-the-art pharmacy completely dedicated to cancer care.
“The world’s understanding of cancer, including its underlying genetic and environmental risk factors and most effective treatment regimens, is changing rapidly. This major reinvestment in our cancer center reflects Hoag’s commitment to not only keep up with these changes, but also to remain a leader in pioneering responses to them,” said Michael Demeure, M.D., program director, Hoag Precision Medicine.
Hoag’s national rankings in cancer continue to attract renowned specialists who are developing new approaches to the prevention and early detection of cancer, to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer – and bringing newfound optimism to the thousands of patients who come to Hoag for treatment.
“Hoag is in one of the most unique positions in the country in that it offers patients access to top-tier clinical trials and research,” said Carlos Becerra, M.D., who recently joined the team as the Hoag Family Cancer Institute’s medical director of cancer research. “Bringing together some of the brightest physician scientists to lead groundbreaking research that is making a significant impact on cancer prevention, detection and treatment is what attracted me to join this talented team.”
