Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian & Scripps Health will be presenting the virtual 2021 Southern California Lifeguard Education Conference which will include presentations by California’s best lifeguards and medical professionals.
The conference is planned for Wednesday, July 14 from 7-9 p.m. via Zoom.
Presentation topics include:
–Ed Vodrazka, California S.P.P.O. Lifeguard – Retired will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
–Beyond Drowning: A Review of San Diego Beach Trauma and Illness – James Schwendig, MD, FACS, Scripps La Jolla.
–Buoyant or Sinking? Mental Status Check-In – Tina Casola, LMFT, First Alarm Wellness.
–The Effects of COVID-19 on Lifeguard Operations and Personnel – UCSD Research Team: Manar Alkuzweny, Callie Burns, Dharm Shah and Denisha Verma.
–De-Escalation – Charlie Celano, Embassy Consulting Services.
–Excellence in Lifesaving Award.
Two continuing education units are available for participants. This course has been approved by San Diego EMS Provider #37-320.
