Molly Brooks had no idea what to expect from a unique baby shower gift that gave her access to Hoag at Home Postpartum+, but she quickly fell in love with all the services it has to offer before and after birth.
The Postpartum+ team, including Anne Ray, M.D., and Erica Golden, F.N.P., provided quality care and support to Molly and her daughter, Reagan, every step of the way. From discussing what to expect before delivery to transitioning from the hospital to caring for her newborn baby and herself in the comfort of her own home, the Postpartum+ team was there for her. Additionally, Erica, a new mom herself and experienced labor and delivery nurse, was able to relate to the joys and struggles of motherhood while providing professional and skilled guidance.
Postpartum+ gave Molly direct access to knowledgeable health experts who offered answers to all her questions, discussed ideas and addressed her concerns. “Being part of this program allowed me to have support from Erica, who, to me, was a built-in nurse, friend and lactation consultant,” Molly said.
The availability of Dr. Ray provided the opportunity to receive valuable and timely care without having to leave home. Through phone calls, texting and FaceTime, Molly was able to communicate the needs she had with the Postpartum+ team and discuss specific issues ranging from general baby care questions such as diapering for Reagan to breastfeeding and maternal mental health concerns for herself.
Molly credits Erica’s supportive demeanor to helping her manage the stresses and unknowns of new parenthood. She equated having Erica on her side to the feeling of having a compassionate friend giving her quality medical advice and a sense of peace. Molly appreciated the non-judgmental environment the program offered. The kind, yet direct, approach Molly encountered is just what she needed as a new mom.
