About Dr. Homsi

Yaser Homsi, M.D., is a medical oncologist and hematologist at Hoag Family Cancer Institute. He is triple-board certified in hematology, medical oncology and internal medicine. At Hoag, Dr. Homsi treats breast cancer and general hematology and oncology.

Dr. Homsi was in medical school when his mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer and died at 41 years old, which inspired him to become an oncologist. Born in Syria, he earned his medical degree from the University of Aleppo. He completed his residency at Indiana University School of Medicine where he also completed his fellowship in oncology, hematology, and blood and bone marrow stem cell transplantation.

Prior to joining Hoag, Dr. Homsi served as an assistant clinical professor in the department of medical oncology & therapeutics research at City of Hope. Active in research, Dr. Homsi has focused on using novel immunotherapy to fight cancer. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.

In his spare time, Dr. Homsi enjoys spending time with his family, bike riding and playing tennis.
