HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – APRIL 17, 2014 – Residents of Huntington Beach and community members throughout Orange County are invited to the grand opening of the newly expanded Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony hosted by Robert T. Braithwaite, Hoag president and CEO. In attendance will also be Huntington Beach Mayor Matthew Harper, State Assembly and City Council Representatives, as well as Hoag executives Cynthia Perazzo, senior vice president of strategy & business development and Sanford Smith, senior vice president of real estate, facilities, construction and operations.
Immediately following the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, surf legends Peter (“PT”) Townend and Jericho Poppler together with the Rotary Club of Huntington Beach will unveil a custom surfboard painted by local artist Carole Atkins and Hoag cancer patients, on display at Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach. The surfboard is one of several one-of-a-kind art pieces created by acclaimed artists and shapers offered through Surfboards on Parade.
The first 500 attendees at the event will receive a complimentary Hoag gift bag and all guests will enjoy festivities to include appearances by Huntington Beach Fire and Police Department personnel, health and wellness demonstrations, face painting, music, and more. Additionally, independent licensed Insurance Agents, Sue Tarvin and Darrick Tarvin, experts on Medicare, Medigap, HMO’s and Prescription Drug plans will be on hand to answer questions and assist with insurance plan information.
Throughout the day, guests can tour the enhanced, state-of-the-art facility, which provides Huntington Beach residents access to additional Hoag Medical Group physicians including pediatrics, enhanced imaging services, expanded breast diagnostic services including Tomosynthesis (3D Mammography), new heart and vascular outpatient services and additional Hoag-affiliated specialists. The center is conceived as a “one stop shop” for health care, with a design that offers both convenience and an enhanced continuity of care and communication among specialists to help individuals take better control of their health.
To demonstrate Hoag’s commitment to supporting Huntington Beach families with their health and wellness goals, an array of complimentary health screenings will be offered at the event including skin cancer screenings provided by Hoag-affiliated dermatologists, as well as carotid artery, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), macular degeneration, balance, and strength assessment screenings.
