Led by a team of experts, this accredited treatment program equips young adults ages 18-26 with tools and strategies to effectively cope with mental health challenges. What is DBT? Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that emphasizes the psychosocial aspects of treatment. It was originally developed to treat borderline personality disorder but has since been adapted for various mental health conditions.
Core Components of DBT:
- Mindfulness:
- Focuses on being fully present in the moment.
- Helps individuals observe their thoughts and feelings without judgment.
- Distress Tolerance:
- Teaches skills to cope with and tolerate distressing situations.
- Includes techniques like self-soothing, distraction, and improving the moment.
- Emotion Regulation:
- Aims to help individuals understand and manage their emotions.
- Involves identifying and labeling emotions, reducing vulnerability to negative emotions, and increasing positive emotional experiences.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness:
- Focuses on improving communication and relationship skills.
- Includes strategies for asserting needs, setting boundaries, and maintaining self-respect in relationships.
They will learn these skills while linking them to situations and hurdles relevant to their stage of life.
