While we hope that all deliveries are routine, our state-of-the-art maternity hospitals are prepared for the highest risk situations for both maternal and newborn conditions.
Hoag is prepared with 24/7 multidisciplinary expert care including board-certified OB hospitalists, critical care specialists, maternal fetal medicine physicians and anesthesiologists. A Level IIIa neonatal intensive care unit in Newport Beach and Special Care Nursery in Irvine.
In addition, Hoag has an OB triage and OB emergency department that is staffed 24/7 by OB hospitalists and high-risk nursing staff who care for pregnant patients from 16 weeks through 42 weeks.

Top-tier Birthing Center with Specialized Care
This exceptional birthing center was specifically designed to create a first-class experience for all patients and their families. Hoag Newport Beach has an advanced fetal diagnostic testing unit, antepartum unit, fully equipped labor, delivery, and recovery suites and a level IIIa neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) providing specialized, around-the-clock care for infants born prematurely, or with complications.

Premium Labor, Delivery, and Recovery Suites
Hoag’s 18 private labor, deliver and recovery suites are found on the fifth floor of Hoag Newport Beach. These lovely suites provide comfort during labor and quickly transform into fully equipped delivery rooms for childbirth. The labor, deliver and recovery unit has three C-section rooms and is staffed round-the-clock with anesthesiologists and OB hospitalists.

Family-Centered Mother Baby Suites
The 49-bed postpartum unit is a sanctuary for new families to recover and bond. Hoag had adopted a policy of “non-separation” and newborns room-in with their mothers in the spacious family-centered postpartum rooms. The nursery is primarily used as a transitional nursery for examinations by a baby’s physician and for circumcisions.

Fudge Family Birthing Suites go far beyond hospital standards.
These birthing suites reimagine pregnancy, delivery and recovery for modern families with private birthing suites. The new suites offer the ability to labor, deliver and recover in the same room as well as two C-section operating rooms and a nursery staffed 24/7 by an expert team, including OB/GYN hospitalists, midwives, board-certified anesthesiologists and neonatologists.

Antepartum and Postpartum Care
After labor, delivery and recovery, mothers and babies may be transferred to the Mother Baby and Antepartum rooms on the sixth floor. These private rooms are intended for antepartum and postpartum care of moms and their newborns. All mothers will receive spa-like amenities that include essential oils, robes and afternoon tea service.

Certified Nurse Midwives
Hoag offers midwifery services for women who are looking for minimally invasive prenatal care and a unique personal birthing experience. Our certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) are experts in women’s health, providing support during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. Their comprehensive care is dedicated to supporting the normal processes of childbirth to ensure the best possible birthing outcomes for mother and baby.
